Repairs To Be Completed At Junior High School's Pool

The Newark Unified Board of Education voted to approve a $60,000 contract for repairs and renovations for the pool at Newark Junior High School.

’s swimming pool will soon undergo repairs and renovations totaling $60,000.

The Newark Unified Board of Education voted 4-1 to approve a contract for National Aquatics to repair a leak from the pool’s sump pump pit and replace its floor surface.

Board member Jan Crocker voted against the contract after she said she would rather the project focus on the repair of the leak than the additional step to replace the floor surface in order to save costs.

Other board members said they were in favor of replacing the floor surface and the pools edges in order to prevent greater costs in the future.

Approval of the contract was required because Paramount Pools, which had been the previous contractor for the job, canceled services after bonds were unable to be produced by that company.
