Bio:

My journey with Patch began in 2010 when I joined the Patch team as a freelancer. I am now excited to join the hundreds of local editors from throughout the nation whose main initiatives center around bringing you the latest and greatest news and information about your town.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Newark, I'm glad to be stepping back onto my home turf, where I never thought I would end up in journalism. (If you ask anyone in Newark, they would tell you I spent more time in our choir room than anywhere else on the Newark Memorial High School campus.)

I found my calling once I became a staff writer at The State Hornet with California State University, Sacramento. I worked hard (and probably too much) and eventually became the publication's print managing editor during my final year of college.

I graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in government-journalism. Shortly after, I joined the staff of The Daily Republic in Fairfield as an education reporter. I also covered crime, business, community events and health issues while I was in Fairfield.

I loved growing up in Newark and am happy to have this opportunity to help others learn the ins and outs of what makes this town our town.

Beliefs:

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

Politics:

Moderate.

Religion:

I don't practice my religion heavily, but my brother and I were raised Catholic. We often attended church at St. Edward's Catholic Church (where I also attended school from grades K-2) and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont.

Local Hot-Button Issues:

What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

Since Newark Patch's launch in December 2010, I've learned that, like many other neighboring cities, Newark is facing key issues within its schools, development and city budget.

I will work to continue our coverage of significant stories  about Newark government, the Newark Unified School and any breaking news that comes up day to day.

Why would my comments need approval ? I'm probably one of the more level headed & articulate commenters you have !

There has been a large attack nationwide on the Patch regarding the free streaming of the Mayweather fight !!! It's a scam & isn't appearing at any of the venues listed, obviously !!! I've warned as many readers locally as I can !!!
