City Seeks To Fill Vacant Senior Citizen Advisory Committee Seat

A seat on the committee is open as a result of a resignation.

As issued by the City of Newark:

Pursuant to California Government Code, Section 54974, notice is hereby given that a vacancy has occurred on the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee of the City of Newark due to resignation.

The Senior Citizen Standing Advisory Committee researches senior citizen needs in the City of Newark and identifies those needs which require assistance.

The Committee makes recommendations to the City Council and provides information which they feel is pertinent to the well being of Newark’s senior citizens.

The Committee meets at 9 a.m. on the last Monday of most months at the Newark Senior Center located at 7401 Enterprise Drive, Newark.

Persons interested in serving on the Senior Citizen Standing Advisory Committee are invited to apply. 

Applicants are required to be a senior citizen (55 or older), a Newark resident, and a registered voter of the City of Newark.

Application forms are available at the following locations:

  • Office of the City Clerk, 37101 Newark Blvd., 5th Floor
  • Senior Center, 7401 Enterprise Dr.
  • City website www.newark.org
  •  or by calling (510) 578-4266. 

Committee members are appointed by the Mayor, with confirmation by the City Council.

Applications must be received in the City Clerk’s office before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
