Police: Man Arrested on Suspicion of Assault

A summary arrests made by and calls made to the Newark Police Department between June 6 and June 12.

Assault and Battery

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying and possession of a dangerous weapon on Balentine Drive on June 11.

A report of a battery on Guava Drive at Guava Place was called into the Newark Police Department on June 10.

Two separate battery reports were called into the Newark Police Department on June 8. One occurred at 9:37 a.m. on Thornton Avenue and another was reported on Newark Boulevard at 10:32 p.m.

A report of a battery on Cedar Boulevard was called into the Newark Police Department on June 7.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and booked into Fremont Jail on suspicion of battery on June 6.

A report of a battery at Cedar Court was called into the Newark Police Department on June 6.

Burglary and Theft

A report of a burglary on Newcastle Court was called into the Newark Police Department  on June 10.

Two women were arrested after two separate reports of shoplifting at NewPark Mall were called in on June 10. A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft at Target. Another woman, 18, was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from Macys.

A 23-year-old woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and possession of marijuana at Macys, 200 NewPark Mall, on June 6.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana or an open container while driving on Sycamore Street and Beautke Drive on June 12.

A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue on June 9.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and was booked into Fremont Jail.

 A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance on Mowry Avenue near Interstate 880 on June 6. He was brought to Fremont Jail.
