In this week's crime log, police investigate numerous thefts, assaults and batteries.

Assaults and Batteries

A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of battery on July 2. He was brought to Fremont Jail.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue on June 29.

Two reports of a battery in progress were called into the Newark Police Department on June 28, one at 10:36 a.m. at Dumbarton Court and another about 2 p.m. at Locust Street.

A report of an assault with a deadly weapon occurring on Mowry Avenue about 4:45 p.m. on June 27 was called into the Newark Police Department.

Burglary and Theft

A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft at Macys at NewPark Mall on July 3. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

Two 19-year-old men and a 22-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of buying or receiving stolen property at Central Avenue on July 3.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and theft on the 38500 block of Cherry Street on July 2. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of marijuana and tobacco at JCPenny at NewPark Mall on July 2.

A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of theft from the Shell gas station at Jarvis Avenue on July 1. They were brought to Fremont Jail.

A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of theft at Macy's in NewPark Mall on June 30.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft on the 5400 block of Milani Avenue on June 29. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of theft at NewPark Mall on June 29.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue on June 27. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Two reports of stolen vehicles were reported to the Newark Police Department on June 28, one from Newark Boulevard at 6:35 pm. and another from Cherry Street at Dairy Avenue at 2:27 p.m.

A report of a burglary occurring on Magnolia Street at 4:31 p.m. was called into the Newark Police Department on June 28.

A report of a burglary occurring on Birch Street was called into the Newark Police Department at 10:28 a.m. on June 27.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of theft at JCPenny at NewPark Mall on June 28.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine at Robertson and Birch Avenues on July 3. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana or an open container of alcohol while diving at Cherry Street at Thornton Avenue on July 2.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on July 1. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at Marshlands and Thornton Avenue on July 1. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia at Cedar Court on July 1. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Vehicle Incidents

A 33-year old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving without a license on June 27.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving without a license at Newark Buffet on June 27. He was booked into Fremont Jail.
