Police Log: Payless Shoes Robbed of Cash, Trio Attempts to Steal Construction Products

In this week's crime log, police investigate a robbery of a shoe store, a possible commercial robbery and more.

The following is a summary of Newark Police Department activity between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2.

Shoe Store Robbed of Cash

Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing the store at 5904 Newpark Plaza. Police said the suspect used a handgun during the incident and took cash from the store clerk, then ran away. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult between 20 and 25 years of age.

Man Arrested After Foot Chase

A 37-year-old man was arrested Oct. 2 after officers went to the to a call about two men fighting. The man, who had an outstanding warrant, ran off before officers arrived but police found him on Mowry Avenue. They chased him on foot and the man surrendered at Mowry Avenue and Alpenrose Drive. He was arrested on suspicion of a parole violation and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Trio Tried To Steal Construction Materials

Three people were arrested on suspicion of theft on Sept. 27 after police responded to a call of a commercial burglary and learned that a Union City woman and a Fremont man and woman attempted to take construction material stored in the parking lot of a commercial building on the 39600 block of Eureka Drive. All three were cited and released at the scene.

Man Found Yelling and Dancing in Street

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after police officers received multiple calls about a man yelling and dancing in the streets across from . He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Burglaries, Theft and Robberies

Two women, ages 19 and 20, were arrested and cited on suspicion of theft at on Sept. 28.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft at on Sept. 27. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Miscellaneous

A 19-year-old man was arrested and cited for possession of a switchblade knife on Sept. 30.
