Police Applaud K9 Lover

Newark Police commended an aide for his dedication to training law enforcement animals.

Newark Police gave David Parks the Chief’s Challenge Coin on Thursday, recognizing him for his service to the community.

“The coin is given to those individuals who consistently perform at exemplary levels or rise above with a single act of excellence,” according to a statement from the Newark Police Department.

David Parks is a Police Services Aide who has been involved in the department's Tri-City K9 training program since he was hired in 2010.  He has been to almost every training session, according to Newark PD.

Parks has taken courses to work with law enforcement dogs on his own dime and volunteered to help others excel during in-house training sessions. He is now the bearer of the Chief’s Challenge Coin.
