Newark Police Seek Volunteers

R.A.V.E.N. volunteers assist in a variety of Newark Police Department assignments, from traffic to graffiti abatement.

The Newark Police Department is calling on resident to be their eyes and ears on the streets. 

Newark’s R.A.V.E.N. (Ready Active Volunteers Engaged in Newark) is currently accepting applications until Aug. 30.

“The most effective law enforcement efforts are collaborative partnerships between police and community members,” officials wrote in a press release. “Our volunteers perform a wide variety of duties throughout the department, enabling our paid personnel to concentrate on specialized tasks and better manage their workflow.”

Volunteers are placed on assignments that match their interests, skills and experience.

In order to be a R.A.V.E.N. volunteer, you must live or work in Newark, be at least 18 years  old, pass a background check and commit to at least 10 hours per month.
