Paramedics transported him to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where he was pronounced dead, according to Veteran.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Huerta was crossing southbound Ardenwood Boulevard in an easterly direction outside of a crosswalk when a light-colored mid-size SUV traveling south struck him and knocked him to the ground, Veteran said.

The SUV continued traveling south on Ardenwood Boulevard and a second vehicle behind the SUV also ran over Huerta while he was on the ground, according to Veteran.

The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene and remain outstanding, according to Veteran.

Anyone with information about the case should call Veteran at 510-790-6972 or Officer Peters in the traffic division at 510-790-6800 or 510-790-6760.
