Police Searching for Pizza Snatcher

Police are searching for a man who customers said took one – without paying. Police said a “robbery in progress” was called in around 9:30 p.m. Sunday and when officers arrived they learned a man had walked in the restaurant off of Jarvis Avenue and sprung across the front counter. Customers who were in the store said the man then grabbed one pizza and fled on foot, police said. .

Woman Steals Games, Then Sells Them

Police responded to NewPark Mall after a Sears employee reported that a Newark woman who had stolen video games from Sears then traded them for cash at a nearby store had returned around 8:15 p.m. Sunday. Mall and Sears security members kept close watch on the woman who tried to escape. But officers were able to detain her. The 19-year-old woman was then arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary.

Man Arrested After Crashing Car and Fleeing

A 37-year-old man was arrested after officers responded to Newark Square around 12:40 p.m. Sunday to find that a red car hit another car and drove off. Police found the suspect’s vehicle on St. Mark Avenue and arrested the man on suspicion of hit-and-run, driving under the influence and driving without a license. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Five Teens Arrested After High School Fight

Five minors were arrested Wednesday morning after police officers responded to to a report of a fight, police said. School officials said the fight was over a boy and that it was not connected to the recent killing of Newark Memorial High senior Osana Futi. Police said all of the juveniles who were found fighting were arrested by Newark police and are likely to face battery charges. The full report can be .

Woman Arrested After Reports of Gun Spotted

A 36-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday morning after police received a report of a man with a gun at the Psychic Reader Center off Thornton Avenue around 11:20 a.m. heading westbound on Thornton Avenue. Two officers stopped the car and the Hayward woman was arrested on suspicion for a no-cite warrant and a toy BB gun, which was destroyed by passing cars, was found in the street. She was booked in Fremont Jail.

Man Bathes in Fountain

A 52-year-old Fremont man was arrested after police responded to the to a report of him bathing in the fountain around 4:50 p.m. Monday. The man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Assault and Battery

A 19-year-old San Jose woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of battery after police were called to for a battery/theft report around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police investigated a report of a battery between minors on Yew Court around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Burglary and Theft

A home burglary was reported on Mayhews Landing Road around 11:55 p.m. Saturday.

A 48-year-old woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of stealing make-up products from Safeway around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A home burglary on the 6300 block of Baine Avenue was reported around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police investigated a home burglary on the 37900 block of Birch Street around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in which the suspects kicked a front door open and a purse was taken.

A home burglary on Calais Place was reported around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday in which police said the suspect entered the home through a dog door at the back of the home.

Authorities found that three backpacks were taken from a tour bus’ luggage area when they were called to the around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police investigated an attempted home burglary on the 36400 block of Bridgepointe Drive just before 4 p.m. Monday in which five window screens were detached and one was damaged but they didn’t enter the house.

Police found a bicycle, described as a purple Trek 22-inch bike with carbon fiber forks, that was abandoned on the 35800 block of Burning Tree Drive around 11:14 a.m. Monday.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 32-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested after police responded to the 37500 block of Enterprise Court just before 1 p.m. on Saturday to serve a warrant. The pair, both Fremont residents, were arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail. The man was listed as a wanted person for charges related to theft and drugs and the woman was listed wanted on public intoxication and drug-related charges.

A 41-year-old Newark man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and removing a cell phone to prevent police being called after a report of a disturbance on the 6200 block of Bellhaven Avenue was called into the department around 10:15 p.m. Thursday The man was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Traffic Incidents

Police investigated a hit-and-run car crash involving a parked vehicle on Joaquin Murieta Avenue that was reported around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. There was no description of a suspect vehicle reported.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license after police responded to a car crash on Cherry Street at Dairy Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported and the man was cited.

A hit-and-run, non-injury collision was reported near just before 3 p.m. on Monday that involved a park vehicle.
