Week in Review: Food Maxx Robbed Again, Superintendent Search Continues

With the departure of a superintendent, the and the resignation of longtime educators Catherine Ward-Mikes and Cheryl Morris, education topped the news in Newark this week.

Newark Unified School District’s Board of Education is actively looking for a successor to former superintendent Kevin Harrigan and held a special meeting Saturday to interview candidates. On Tuesday, it was announced that of the Hayward Unified School District would be offered the district’s interim superintendent position.

Tuesday's could be connected to the robbery that occurred at the same store just four weeks ago, police said this week. Police are in search of three men who robbed Food Maxx on Cedar Boulevard on June 14.
