How to Get Your Kids a Youth Bus Card

Youth will have a chance to sign up for a Youth Clipper Card for AC Transit bus services in Hayward this Saturday. 

AC Transit staff will be on site from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Southland Mall to help students between 5 and 18 years of age obtain the youth card, which is needed in order to purchase a 31-day pass providing unlimited trips for $20.

Southland Mall is located at 1 Southland Mall Drive in Hayward.

AC Transit Clipper Youth Cards are personalized with the individual’s photo and an application form must be filled out, according to a press release from AC Transit.

Students who sign up are required to bring one proof-of-age document, which could be any of the following:

• Birth certificate
• Passport
• State-issued ID or state-issued driver’s license
• Military dependent card
• Alien registration card/Permanent resident card
• Matricula Consular/consular ID card

Once the information is confirmed by AC Transit, the card will be sent and delivered within 14 days.

The cards will have no value when delivered, but credit can be added by visiting a participating retailer, visiting www.clippercard.com, or by phone.

AC Transit Staff will also be at , 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, to help students sign up for the cards on Sept. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. during the Newark Celebration Days festival.
