Donations Still Sought For LOV's Thanksgiving Dinner

Hundreds of supplies are still needed for the annual dinner that feeds thousands of East Bay residents.

With two days left before Thanksgiving, the League of Volunteers is still in need of donations for its annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

While the organization has received all of the turkeys it needs to host its annual event, hundreds of hams, pies and supplies are still needed, according to Executive Director Shirley Sisk.

Approximately 5,000 East Bay residents are expected to attend LOV’s 24th annual Thanksgiving Day dinner on Thursday in which meals will be served between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

  • 50 Hams
  • 465 Baked Pies
  • 600 Dessert Plates
  • 500 Dinner (Divided) Plates
  • 2,200 Large Brown Lunch Bags
  • 2,700 Sandwich Bags
  • Styrofoam Dinner Containers

Sisk remains optimistic that all of the items will be collected and said she believes the early date of this year’s Thanksgiving may be a reason for the shortage of supplies.

“I think people didn’t start thinking about it early,” Sisk said. “But it’s here, in a few days.”

Individuals who would like to make a donation can drop off items at LOV’s headquarters, 36120 Ruschin Dr. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Wednesday. For more information, contact LOV at 510-793-5683.
