New Assistant Principal For Newark Junior High

Hecate Rosewood makes a move from the district office to the administrative team at Newark Junior High School.

There will be a new — but familiar face — on Newark Junior High School’s administrative team this school year.

Hecate Rosewood was recently appointed as the campus' new assistant principal, replacing former assistant principal James McGee.

While she’s new to , Rosewood is no stranger to the Newark Unified School District.

She joined Newark Unified from Alisal Union School District in late August 2011 when as the district's coordinator of continuous improvement and state/federal/special projects.

trustees approved her hire at the board’s regular meeting Tuesday.

Superintendent of Schools Dave Marken said Tuesday that the district is excited for Rosewood’s transition to the junior high school, and the sentiment was returned by Rosewood.

“I’m totally thrilled to learn about middle school,” Rosewood said at the board meeting. “I love the age, and I think it’s a good fit with [Principal Mark E. Neal]…I really appreciate the opportunity.”

Former assistant principal McGee resigned at the end of the 2011-12 school year after having been hired as a principal of an elementary school in neighboring Hayward Unified School District.

also has a new assistant principal this school year.

Philip Morales joins Newark Memorial from Terra Nova High School in Pacifica where he was vice principal of administration. Morales replaces former Newark Memorial assistant principal , who retired during the 2011-12 school year.
