Three Juveniles Arrested in Attempted Home Burglary

Police believe the suspects may be linked to at least one other burglary attempt on Tuesday.

Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday after trying to burglarize a Newark home, police said.

According to the Newark Police Department, officers were sent to investigate an in-progress burglary around 3:55 p.m. on the 6400 block of Marguerite Drive.

A neighbor told authorities that four males knocked on the front door of a home, then went around to the side. The suspects were driving a dark blue BMW with tinted windows and had parked across the street from the victim’s house.

Officers also spotted two more suspects on the south side of the home. Both were detained while trying to jump over the back fence of the home.

All of the suspects were juveniles, police.

At least one of the suspects had property from the home on his person, according to police.

Police believe that the juveniles may be linked to an attempted home burglary earlier that day due to similarities.

According to the Newark Police Department, four suspects were seen pounding on the front door of a home on the 7400 block of Birkdale Drive around 1:45 p.m. However, a witness described the suspects’ vehicle as a black Toyota with tinted windows.

The suspects went around to the backyard after no one answered the door but fled when they noticed a resident in the backyard.
