Mirabeau Drive Shooting Linked to May 2011 Crime

Police say the house that was shot into was in the same area of a May 2011 shooting that injured a teenage boy.

The home targeted early Wednesday morning in what police said was a gang-related drive-by shooting was in the same residence where a teenager was shot and wounded nearly one year ago. The drive-by shooting, which occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 6300 block of Mirabeau Drive, was in “the same immediate area” of the May 2011 shooting, said Newark Police Cmdr. Michael Carroll. No one was injured in Wednesday’s shooting but authorities said six shots were fired into the home. On May 30, 2011, police responded to the same area after a shooting that left  a then-17-year-old boy with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg at around 1:21 a.m. Both shootings are said to be gang-related, according to Carroll, but there is no …

More people are coming forward, so that’s been a positive thing."
