Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology is leading the way in sustainable design and academic programs. According to the campus website, voters approved a $100 million bond to build a "green campus" that has eco-friendly landscaping and other energy-saving features like solar panels, high-efficiency lighting and geothermal heating. Onsite computers show students, faculty, staff members and visitors the results of those energy-saving measures. The college's commitment to the environment and its investment in sustainable technologies has been utilized in several Newark Center programs, including environmental studies, biotechnology and health sciences. The Ohlone College Newark Center is part of the Ohlone Community College District.
