STARSTRUCK THEATRE PRESENTS "ALL SHOOK UP"

Where/When: Ohlone College Outdoor Amphitheatre, 43600 Mission Blvd. in Fremont; ThursdayFriday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy youth performing arts company StarStruck Theatre’s rendition of the classic rock ‘n’ roll musical. A take on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” the play is set in 1955 and follow’s a girl and a mysterious guitar-playing stranger as they help a small town discover the magic of rock and roll. The is full of Elvis Presley hits such as “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Love Me Tender.”

7TH ANNUAL HEALTH SERVICES AND BACK 2 SCHOOL FAIR

Where/When: 5970 Thornton Ave. in Newark; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Solid Rock Church of God in Christ will be giving away 200 backpacks filled with school supplies. The event will also include free health screenings, health information and haircuts for area students. The Oakland Raiderettes will also make an appearance.

Where/When: 39439 Paseo Padre Pkwy.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: This two-day festival has become a local tradition. It features music, a parade, dance competitions, Bollywood celebrities, a free health fair and a variety of vendors offering clothes, arts, crafts and flavorful food.

Pricing: $5

HALAL FEST

Where/When: NewPark Mall (main lot between Sears and Macy’s); Saturday from noon to 7 p.m.

Why Go: The first ever Halal food festival in the state, the event will showcase a variety of foods from around the world including Middle Eastern, Arabic, Mediterranean and South Asian fare. There will be a live cooking demo, halal food vendors, children’s activities and a bazaar with clothing, jewelry, crafts, toys and art for sale. The event also celebrates the Muslim holiday of Eid.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL PEP RALLY

Where/When: NewPark Mall (lower level near JCPenney); Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: See live performances from the Newark Memorial High School band and the RAW All-Stars cheer and dance team. There will also be vendor booths and a special promo: a free $15 gift certificate with any same-day purchase of $100 or more.
