Lend a Hand and Two Ears as a Library Volunteer

Newark Library recruiting teenagers for its Summer Reading Buddies program.

Newark Library staff members are seeking teenage volunteers for its Summer Reading Buddies program.

The program aims to assist elementary-aged children in developing their reading skills by pairing each child with a teenager every Wednesday afternoon. The child then gets to spend time reading to the teenage volunteer.

The weekly program runs between 3 and 5 p.m. and parents are encouraged to register their children for the session.

Teenagers who are interested in volunteering must be at least 13 years of age.

Individuals who would like to sign up for this volunteering opportunity are asked to fill out an application at the library’s information desk and attend an orientation meeting from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at the .
