DEA Hosts Drug Disposal Event

Local law enforcement will give the community an opportunity to dispose of potentially dangerous prescription drugs.

The Drug Enforcement Agency and the Fremont Police Department are hosting a prescription drug “take-back” event this month.

It will give people an opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. A Newark Police spokesperson said a goal of the annual event is to prevent substance abuse, accidental poisonings and environmental degradation. Medication flushed down the toilet disrupts ecosystems.

The event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday October 26.

Bring medications for disposal to:

Kaiser Permanente Fremont Medical Center, located at 39400 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont, California.

The service is free and anonymous.
