A Pint For A Pint

Donate blood and receive a coupon for a pint of ice cream.

American Red Cross — Give a pint, get a pint. That's the promotion the American Red Cross is beginning Monday in its Northern California Blood Services Region

From July 25 through August 31, blood donors can beat the heat while helping to maintain the community blood supply.

When a donor donates a pint of blood with the Red Cross, he or she will receive a coupon good for a pint of Baskin-Robbins ice cream.

The summer months are typically a challenging time for the Red Cross because many regular blood donors go on vacation or are preoccupied with other summertime activities.

At the same time, blood needs can rise during the summer as increased roadway and travel-related injuries can drain supplies.

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

Donors can call 1-800-RED CROSS 1 (800) 733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.

About the American Red Cross:

The Northern California Blood Services Region of the Red Cross supplies blood to nearly 30 Bay Area hospitals, and must collect more than 300 pints of blood each day in order to meet hospital needs.
