Newark Memorial Alum Signs to Texas State

Kris Petersen, who plays football at Chabot, signed a letter to play for the Texas State University Bobcats.

A Newark Memorial Alumnus will be playing football for Texas State University, according to media reports.

According to a Texas news station, Kris Petersen, a football player at Chabot College, signed a letter of intent to play for the Texas State Bobcats last week.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end also played tight end and defensive back at Newark Memorial High School before making his way to Chabot, KVUE.com reports.

Petersen helped take Chabot to back-to-back Golden Gate Conference championship games — the first time in 27 years, according to the news website.

According to KVUE, Petersen played in the Capital City Bowl in 2011 and the Top of the State Bowl in 2012. He had 57 pancake blocks and caught four passes for 62 yards as a sophomore at Chabot last season.

See Petersen’s highlight reel on Hudl.com.
