High School Football Playoff Recap

De La Salle, San Ramon Valley win... Las Lomas, Logan lose

Here are some of the scores from high school football NCS playoff action on Friday night.

A pair of number two seeds lost while two number seven seeds advanced.


De La Salle 70  Freedom 7

De La Salle High continues to roll toward another NCS title with a 70-7 victory over Freedom High.

The top seeded Spartans ran all over the eighth seeded Falcons from the beginning. They held a 42-0 lead at the half and led 56-0 after three periods.

Freedom didn't score until they returned a kickoff midway through the fourth quarter.

De La Salle, which hasn't lost to a Northern California team since 1991, is now 10-1 on the season. Their only loss was to a nationally ranked Florida team.

Next weekend, the Spartans will play the winner of tomorrow night's Berkeley High vs. Pittsburg High game.

Freedom, whose only previous loss was to Pittsburg High, finishes the season at 10-2.

San Ramon Valley 28  James Logan 14

San Ramon Valley High surprised previously undefeated James Logan High, 28-14.

The seventh seeded Wolves got ahead early against the second seeded Colts. They led by a 21-7 margin in the third quarter.

Logan closed the gap with a touchdown in the fourth period to make the score, 21-14.

However, San Ramon Valley put the ball in the end zone with less than four minutes to play to secure the win.

San Ramon Valley is now 9-3 on the season. Next weekend, they will play the winner of tomorrow night's Monte Vista High vs. San Leandro High game.

Logan High finishes the season at 10-1.


Concord 42  Las Lomas 16

Las Lomas High quest for a Division II title was crushed as they suffered a 42-16 defeat against Concord High.

The second seeded Knights fell behind early against the seventh seeded Minutemen.

Concord used a strong rushing attack to build a 28-10 lead in the third quarter and keep pouring it on, building a 42-10 margin midway through the fourth quarter.

Concord is now 9-3 on the season. Next weekend, they play the winner of tomorrow night's Rancho Cotate vs. Casa Grande game.

Las Lomas finishes the season with a 9-3 record.

Windsor 28  Maria Carrillo 6

Windsor High maintained its unbeated record by defeating Maria Carrillo High, 28-6

Windsor, the division's top seed, is now 12-0 on the season. Next weekend, they play the winner of tomorrow night's College Park High vs. Dublin High game.

Maria Carrillo, the eighth seed, finishes the season at 6-6.


Fortuna High 37  Berean Christian 20

Fortuna High had to come from behind to defeat visiting Berean Christian High in their Division IV playoff game.

The third seeded Huskies fell behind early against the sixth seeded Eagles.

Berean Christian held a 20-14 edge in the third quarter. However, Fortuna got a safety and then the go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Fortuna is now 11-1 for the season. They play the winner of tomorrow night's Ferndale High vs. Willits High game.

Berean Christian, a small school in Walnut Creek, finishes the season at 8-4.
