Olympian to keynote at YWCA Silicon Valley’s Annual Luncheon Oct. 2

Six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee will keynote at the YWCA Silicon Valley’s 22nd Annual Luncheon on Oct. 2, 2012, at the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara.

Joyner-Kersee ranks among the all-time greatest athletes in the women's heptathlon as well as in the women's long jump. She won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals at four Olympic Games. After her retirement from sports, she founded the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Youth Center Foundation.

The annual YWCA Luncheon, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., serves as a major fundraiser, with proceeds going to support the programs and services of the YWCA Silicon Valley. The luncheon is non-ticketed and open to the public, with an appeal during the event for a donation of $150 or more.

The YWCA Silicon Valley serves nearly 18,000 Santa Clara County residents each year, and has provided services in Santa Clara County for more than 106 years. The YWCA provides programs in the areas of Domestic Violence, Rape Crisis, Youth Services, Counseling and Child Care.
