Boys Wrestling: Cougars Place Second At MVAL Finals

Nine varsity wrestlers from Newark Memorial High School will represent the Mission Valley Athletic League at the North Coast Section Championships.

“Congratulations to the varsity and junior varsity Cougar wrestling teams at Newark Memorial High School for placing second at the Mission Valley Athletic League Wrestling Finals,” Coach Tim Hess wrote on Newark Patch’s Facebook page.

James Logan High School hosted the MVAL Wrestling Finals Saturday.

The JV's were led by MVAL Champs:

  • Lucky Khaitan (137lbs)
  • Joe Angeja (142)
  • Patrick Smith (191)

According to Hess, the varsity team qualified nine wrestlers for the North Coast Section Wrestling championships.

According to the NCS Wrestling website, the finals start this Friday at Newark Memorial.
