Video: Summer Classes That Sizzle

Youth can take cooking classes through the Ohlone for Kids Summer Enrichment Program.

Summer classes don't have to be about working on your English and math skills.

The Ohlone for Kids Summer Enrichment Program has brought back a class that allows youth to get familiar with food.

Young Chefs is a class in which students from grades 4 to 10 learn about the art of cooking.

Taught my Angel Hsu, the children are exposed to original recipes that range from salsa to dumplings and get hands-on experience in creating the edible treats. Hsu, an accountant, is a first-time instructor for Ohlone for Kids but said cooking is her passion.

"I just want to share my skill with people," said Hsu.

Ohlone for Kids is offering summer programs through August 11. The classes are held at either or Irvington High School in Fremont.

The last Young Chefs course will be held during the week of July 11.
