Video: Newark Memorial 2012 Grads Celebrate

More than 400 Newark Memorial High School seniors received diplomas during an emotional and triumphant graduation ceremony Saturday.

The class of 2012 of Newark Memorial High School has been through tragedies and triumphs. On June 9, the getting through it all.

Friends and family members were at hand to cheer them on. High school officials gave out 403 diplomas. The 404th diploma went to Osana Futi, who was killed a month before the ceremony. His classmates and audience members gave a standing ovation and a friend and family member received the diploma.

Jesus Loza Jr., the , said the 2012 class is unique because it is a talented and passionate group.

Principal Edward Marquez said while the graduates have been through a lot and seen many changes in the school, they also had many successes.
