Tri-City Educators to be Honored at Alameda County Teacher of the Year Ceremony

Two county educators will move forward to compete for the California Teacher of the Year title.

Nineteen teachers from Alameda County will be honored at a Teacher of the Year ceremony tonight.

The educators will be recognized by the Alameda County Office of Education at its annual Teacher of the Year Award ceremony, in which two candidates will be selected to as Teachers of the Year for the county and move forward to compete for the California Teacher of the Year title.

Among those who will be honored are three teachers from Fremont, Newark and Union City. The three educators are: 

  • Fremont Unified School District: Jennifer Teguia, Kennedy High School
  • New Haven Unified School District: Todd Szyslowski, Cabello Student Support Center
  • Newark Unified School District: Connie Piserchio, Lincoln Elementary

The ceremony will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts, 19501 Redwood Rd. in Castro Valley. Tickets are $20. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call 510-670-4111.
