Ohlone Students Get Ready to Graduate

Ohlone Community College holds its 44th annual graduation ceremony on Friday

Tassels will be turned and caps thrown Friday as graduates of Ohlone Community College celebrate a milestone in their post-secondary education.

The college will hold its 44th Graduation Ceremony at the Epler Gymnasium on the Fremont campus at 7 p.m. Friday. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The 487 graduates include 49 Newark residents and 241 Fremont residents. More than 197 of the graduates are from other parts of the Bay Area and some students hale from states as far away as Wyoming and Pennsylvania.

Ohlone will award 100 associate of science degrees and 480 associate of arts degrees this year, according to college officials.

Fremont resident Angeline Joyce Chew is this year's valedictorian.

The graduates range in age from 18 years to older than 50 years.
