Superintendent To Talk About State of Newark Unified

The update on the Newark Unified School District will be presented at the NUSD board meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Superintendent of Schools Dave Marken will present a State of the District address tonight at the Newark Unified Board of Education meeting tonight.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the , 5715 Musick Ave.

Also at the meeting, Susan Condon, Andy Francis, MJ Mikel and Gary Stadler of the Measure G Bond Committee will be recognized by the district.

Measure G was passed by voters by 56 percent, according to Post Election Unofficial Final Results from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.

Measure G is a $63 million bond that is allocated toward paying for facilities upgrades throughout the The money will go toward updating classrooms, libraries and science labs and refurbishing schools to meet earthquake and fire safety standards.

Homeowners would have to pay $39 per $100,000 of assessed value annually, beginning in 2013 and ending in 2046. That calculation is based on an assumption of annual growth in assessed value of 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent.
