California Election Rule Changes: Open Primaries and Redistricting

Hear about changes to the upcoming 2012 State elections and avoid confusion on Election Day.  California’s congressional districts were recently redrawn in response to the 2010 census data. California also adopted a primary system that places all candidates for congressional and state offices on the same ballot.  In this Top Two Primary System, the two candidates that receive the most votes advance to a run-off election in November.  Jennifer Lee, Candidate and Nomination Services Clerk from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, will explain the Top Two Primary System and provide a visual summary of the new congressional districts.  This program is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City.
