Back to School: "Stuff the Bus" for Local Students

A fundraising event to help collect school supplies for Newark students will be held Aug. 18 and Aug. 19.

From Newark Unified's website:

Third Annual STUFF THE BUS

  • Saturday, August 18 - Sunday, August 19
  • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

In a down economy, it is difficult for many local families to purchase everything on the list of supplies that students need to start school each fall – everything from paper and pencils to scissors and crayons to binders and notebooks.

The local community can help provide supplies for students when WalMart hosts a “Stuff the Bus” drive at the Albrae Street store in Fremont.

A Newark USD bus will be parked outside the store from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and shoppers will be invited to purchase school supplies and “stuff the bus” with donations for students.

This event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Fremont. Kiwanis volunteers will be on hand to give out flyers with a list of items the students need for school. They will be sorting the donations and stuffing the bus. Come out and help give the young people the start they need this coming school year. Thanks.
