Newark Vice Mayor Ana Apodaca is among a handful of individuals who’ve expressed interest in filling the now vacant Alameda County District 2 Supervisor Seat, according to media reports.
The Oakland Tribute reported that Apodaca, whose been a councilmember since 2006, has announced her interest in becoming former Supervisor Nadia Lockyer’s replacement.
Lockyer’s resignation, which surfaced after related to drug abuse and an extramarital affair, was last week.
The Tribune also noted that Union City Mayor Mark Green, Union City mayoral candidate and former councilman Richard Valle, Hayward City Councilman Mark Salinas and former Assembly member and former Newark city councilman Alberto Torrico have also expressed interest in the seat.
District 2 encompasses Newark, Union City, Fremont, Sunol and Hayward.
