Need to Know: Knitting for Seniors, Election Forum, Teen Pool Tournament

This week, enjoy needle work with a senior group, learn more about the city council candidates or have your teens test out their billiard skills.

Here's our list through Oct. 9.

  1. Grab the yarn and head to the for an afternoon of . The group meets Mondays at 1 p.m.
  2. Are you a local teen or know of one who wants to get involved? The Newark Library’s Teen Advisory Group will be meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. The teen advisory group helps library staff learn more about what types of program and events teens would like in the library.
  3. Newark residents are invited to a on Thursday, Oct. 6. The event begins with a mayoral forum at 7 p.m., followed by a city council forum at 7:55 p.m. At 9 p.m. there will be a presentation on the The meeting will be held at , 37101 Newark Blvd.
  4. A free career event will be hosted by Chabot College on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, entitled will be presented by the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour and will include three keynote addresses, a networking event, a discussion panel, a workshop and more.   5. Teens, come off and show off your skills at the pool table. A pool tournament will be held at the at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7. The events are free with paid admission to the Teen Area.
