Four Apply To Join Newark Planning Commission

Four people applied for the vacant seat on Newark’s Planning Commission this week, according to City Clerk Sheila Harrington.

Melinda Pickens, retired Newark Unified School District teacher; Jeff Aguilar, associate land broker with CBRE Inc.; Sherry Nikzat, senior management analyst for the City of Palo Alto; and Jeffrey J. Lucia, retired UFCW ranger. Those names will be hyperlinked when we complete an interview with the candidate.

Mayor Alan Nagy will have the final say on who is appointed to the commission, which is tasked with making recommendations to City Council about land use issues.

The person chosen will replace Theresa Ballard Dias, who retired at the end of 2013.
