Council to Appoint Two Planning Commissioners

The pair of appointees will replace former commissioners Marla Blowers and Glen Kramer.

Newark's Planning Commission will soon have new leadership.

City council is scheduled to appoint two individuals onto the Planning Commission Thursday night as a result of the resignations of Marla Blowers and Glen Kramer.

Blowers' term has ended and Kramer resigned with three years remaining on his term, according to Newark City Council's Feb. 14 agenda.

According to the agenda, applications for the two vacancies have been received by the following individuals:

  • Elwood Ballard
  • Jack Dane
  • Michael Hannon
  • Sharlene Mansfield
  • Debbie Otterstetter
  • James Twietmeyer
  • George Zraick

The indivividual appointed to Blowers' seat will have a term that expires on Dec. 31, 2016. The appointee who will take Kramer's place will serve a term that expires on Dec. 31, 2015.

Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Newark City Council Chambers, 37101 Newark Blvd.

Also at Thurday's council meeting:

  • Council will vote on whether to allow Mayor Al Nagy to sign a license agreement amendment between Cargill, Inc. and the City of Newark for the Newark Police Department's range.
  • City council will decide whether to authorize the creation of an "Aquatics Coordinator" position for the Recreation and Community Services Department.
