BART Police Department recently offered safety tips for BART riders after a man's cell phone was stolen while he was on the BART train in Dublin. The , despite being chased by and off-duty San Francisco Police officer. BART Police and other local police agencies searched for the suspect but were not able to find him.

"It was about three years ago...coming home from SF... drunk guys and one tried to come sit next to me, he actually sat partially on me...I got up and moved to a nice couple and ask them if they would help walk me to my car, it is scary being the last stop... Dublin... as you know everyone has to get off and there are only a few left on the train."

The BART website says riders "can use the train intercom located at the ends of each train car. This will allow you to make your report to the train operator who will forward the information to the police department's communications center."
