Victim of Fremont Homicide Identified

Rahul Sharma, 20, of Fremont was fatally shot last week. Police released a sketch of the suspected gunman who they are continuing to search for.

A man who was fatally shot in Fremont on Thursday night has been identified as 20-year-old Rahul Sharma of Fremont, police said today.

A service for Sharma will be held at the Fremont Memorial Chapel at 3723 Peralta Blvd. in Fremont at noon on Friday.

According to Fremont police Detective Bill Veteran, officers responded to 4273 Central Ave. at about 11 p.m. Thursday on a report of gunshots heard and found Sharma unconscious in a driveway with a gunshot wound to his head.

Sharma was transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Fremont police describe a possible suspect in the case as a black man in his 20s with earrings in both ears. He was wearing a white T-shirt, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fremont Police Department's investigative unit at (510) 790-6900 or (510) 790-6800.
