Two Arrested Near Elementary School Following Pursuit

By Bay City News Service

Police arrested a man and a woman following a short pursuit near an elementary school in Newark early Sunday morning.

At about 1:45 a.m., officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle at Graham Elementary School, located at 36270 Cherry St.

When officers arrived at the school, two suspects on a motorcycle attempted to flee the scene.

After traveling about 30 feet, the driver stopped, laid the motorcycle on its side and took off running.

Following a brief foot pursuit, the driver was apprehended, police said.

Police identified the driver of the motorcycle as 30-year-old Jeremy Ferreira, of Hayward, and the passenger as 31-year-old transient Kimberly O'Toole.

Ferreira was arrested for resisting arrest, possession of a stun gun by a prohibited person, and for a felony warrant, police said.

O'Toole was arrested for two misdemeanor warrants, according to police.
