Truck Fire Closed Street in Newark

A mechanical fire set a truck ablaze in Newark Tuesday morning, causing traffic congestion near the railroad tracks.

Alameda County Fire trucks and Newark Police were dispatched at about 5 a.m. to the intersection of Graham Avenue and Sycamore Street.

They arrived to find a truck “fully loaded with garbage,” according to Newark Police spokesperson. Newark Police placed road blocks to redirect traffic while the situation was addressed. The scene was cleared at about 7:30 a.m.  No injuries were reported. The truck was towed.
