Two minors and a San Francisco man have been charged in connection to an armed robbery of a NewPark Mall jewelry store that occurred in late July, police said.

Newark police announced Thursday that a 16-year-old Oakland boy, a 17-year-old Hayward boy and a 20-year-old man were charged Sept. 20.

All three are charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and false imprisonment, said Newark Police Sgt. Manuel DeSerpa.

The three suspects who were arrested were sought after police were called to Zena Jewellers at NewPark Mall to a report of an armed robbery.

Authorities said four suspects entered the jewelry store armed with guns, smashed display glasses, grabbed jewelry and fled. Read the original report by clicking here. At some point during the robbery, one of the suspects fired a gun, but no one was injured, police said.

Police identified the adult charged in connection to the robbery as Raymond Jefferson Jr., 20, out of San Francisco. He is being held in San Francisco Jail, where he has already been in custody for an unrelated crime, according to DeSerpa.

The fourth suspect has not been arrested, but Newark police said officers are continuing to investigate and are following up on leads.
