Teen Arrested After Crashing Through Brick Wall

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence without a license.

A joy ride for one teenager didn't end happily early Thursday morning when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police said officers responded to the 36700 block of Cedar Blvd. just after midnight to a report of a hit-and-run and learned the 17-year-old had crashed through a brick retaining wall before his vehicle stopped on a front yard of a home, only feet away from its front door.

The teenager then ran off eastbound on Dupont Drive but was tackled by witnesses, according to a Newark Police Department press release.
