Police: Women Arrested After Carrying Knife On Elementary School Campus

The police report states that the woman was spotted with a "large sheathed knife" around 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

A 47-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possession of a knife at an elementary school.

Police said school staff saw the woman at around 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday with a "large sheathed knife." She had previously been involved in a confrontation over riding her bicycle on the campus at 6071 Smith Ave., according to a police report. No injuries were reported.

According to a report from The Argus, the woman had no connection to the school and was arrested off campus. Classes at Bunker Elementary School end at 2:32 p.m.

Officers found the suspect at the gas station at 5799 Mowry Ave., where she was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife on school grounds and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

During a search of her room at the at 5555 Cedar Court, police found the knife, 6.7 grams of methamphetamine and medication that was not prescribed to her, police said.

The woman was booked into Fremont Jail.

Superintendent Dave Marken said the administrators at Bunker Elementary School plan to notify parents through the district's automated phone system.

I was at the gas station when they were arresting this woman. I was wondering what was going on.

How many doses are in 6.7 grams? What is the situation with meth addiction in Newark these days?
Christen December 08, 2011 at 04:56 AM
Not only is there a ton of meth in Newark these days, but so much of it seems to be found at the EZ-8 in Newark. Those transients sitting begging for dope money in front of the mall, and on the freeway off ramps go in and out of that hotel all the freaking time. Newark has turned into a total dump, complete with tweakers, gang members, and the homeless people who camp out under the overpass by Ardenwood and Newark Blvd. I had to explain to my son why this woman was taking a dump on the side of the road as traffic was going by with her butt hanging out with traffic at a dead stop. Thanks Newark, you're a great role model for our kids!

I want to know why the school did not inform the parents that there was this person on campus. Even though school ends at 2:32 not all children are picked up yet. There are also after school activities and the daycare program going on. As a parent with a child that goes to that school I find it very disturbing that this is how I am finding out about the incident.

Good question, Shaleen! This seems like something they should let us know about. This is just another good reason why these nasty hotels need to be torn down!

Just think how much stuff the City and School would keep from you if Patch wasn't around!
Nadja Adolf December 08, 2011 at 08:23 AM
Thank God they arrested her instead of citing and releasing her. If the city really wants people to "shop Newark" they need to clear out the gangsters and the addicts who hang out at the mall and Four Corners.

The good thing about this weather is that at least we're hearing fewer gunshots.

If they tear the crack head motels down...their little camp out will grow even larger! So disgusting to see them sitting on the corners AND IN SAFEWAY! I complained to the manager after seeing one of the eating the fresh soup! Out of the pots!! Something needs to be done, our town is starting to remind me of Pier 39.

This is one of the reasons I shop at the Safeway in the Hub. If there motel were torn down, they'd probably all head for the Islander in Fremont.

I'm interested in Al Nagy's Approach to all this Crime in our City and whether or not he will keep it "Business as Usual" meaning, like Dave Smith ignore it and pretend it isn't a Problem. A guy like Nagy whose got a strong Background in helping the Community should be just as Angry as the rest of us, but then again it is Newark.

I kind of liked the Gunshots, they helped me sleep at night. Hell of a lot better than counting Stars. LOL

LOL, yeah right! There was a shooting yesterday at 12:51 on Haley because of a drug deal gone wrong. This is a block and a half from our house....lovely.
James December 09, 2011 at 02:05 AM
I remember when I lived off Haley, the Cops were on my block 24/7. Neighbor girl used to date a verified Gang Member, His Gang and another Gang which lived literally three houses down would feud like crazy! Then you had the redneck Neighbor who was a good ole boy from down south who hated anyone not White and would pop off his Shotgun in the dead of Night just to remind everyone he was there. The guy who grew MJ Plants in his enclosed Backyard, hence all the Security Camera's around his Home, the other guy who enjoyed beating up his Wife daily, until her Brother showed up and put him in his place. Ahhh Memories!
