Police: Two Armed Robberies In Six Hours, Pair Arrested After Thefts at Home Depot

In this week's crime log, police investigate reports of burglaries and thefts at local stores.

The following is a summary of calls made to and arrests made by the Newark Police Department between Aug. 8 and Aug. 14.

Two armed robberies occurred within six hours of each other, police said. Police are still searching for a man after a clerk at the on Stevenson Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 8. Six hours earlier, on Thornton Avenue was also robbed at gunpoint. to read more about the incidents.

Theft and Burglary

Two reports of burglaries were called into the Newark Police Department on Aug. 12. The first was reported just after 8:30 p.m. on Jacandra Drive and another was reported just after 9 p.m. on Elmwood Drive.

A report of a burglary at the was called into the Newark Police Department at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Aug. 10.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property at restaurant on Rich Avenue on Aug. 8. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft at on Thornton Avenue on Aug. 9.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary at the on Thornton Avenue on Aug. 9. She was booked into Fremont Jail.

Violence

Three reports of battery were called into the Newark Police Department on Aug. 14. The first was called in at 6:35 p.m. on Dairy Avenue, the second around 8:45 p.m. on Mayhews Landing Road and the third on Newark Boulevard around 9:50 p.m.

Three reports of battery were called into the Newark Police Department on Aug. 9. All three occurred on Newark Boulevard between 8:20 a.m. and 12:35 a.m.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of giving alcohol to a minor at on Thornton Avenue on Aug. 14.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of giving alcohol to a minor on the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard on Aug. 14.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public at the former Mervyns, 5655 Mowry Ave. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at Bridgepointe Drive and Cedar Boulevard on Aug. 10. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana or an open container of alcohol while driving and possession of dangerous fireworks without a permit at the corner of Mayhews Landing Road and Hazelnut Drive on Aug. 13.
