Police: Stolen Handgun Found Near Newark Pavilion

A summary of activity by Newark police April 4-12:

Burglary

A police chase near Joaquin Murieta Avenue ended in the arrest of three people connected to two residential burglaries April 8. Officers say they recovered stolen property from both locations.

Robbery

Officers were searching for a woman in connection with a strong-arm robbery outside of Mi Pueblo April 12. The police activity log shows the woman grabbed another man’s wallet after she asked him for help with paying for gas. The suspect was described as an African American female, 5’5" and weighing 130 pounds.

Theft

Officers arrested a 44-year-old woman in connection with a shoplifting incident at JC Penney’s on April 4.

The police activity log shows officers arrested a 67-year-old man in connection with a shoplifting incident at on April 7.

A traffic stop outside of April 8 led to the arrest of a 18-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a stolen .40 calibre Smith and Wesson handgun and marijuana possession.

Drugs and Alcohol

Officers responded to reports about a drunk man in the Orchard Supply parking lot April 5.

After officers responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Rockrose Drive April 6, officers arrested a 39-year-old Newark man on suspicion of possessing 2.1 grams of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.
