Police Say Shooting on Civic Terrace Avenue Was Gang-Related

Victim, 18, expected to survive after being shot in lower abdomen at 2:20 a.m. Friday.

Bay City News — Police in Newark are investigating a Friday morning shooting that appears to be gang-related.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Civic Terrace Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. Friday, police said. An 18-year-old man who was hit in his lower abdomen by gunfire had already been taken to Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont by his friends before officers arrived, according to police.

He is expected to survive, police said.

The shooting appears to be gang-related and the Newark police Major Crimes Task Force is continuing to investigate the incident.
