UPDATE: Police Seek Three Men After Home Invasion Robbery

A person was held at gunpoint during the Tuesday robbery, police said.

Newark police are searching for three men after a person was held at gunpoint during a home invasion robbery on Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded to the 36300 block of Spruce Street around 11 a.m. on July 5 to a report of a home robbery.

It is believed that three men had forced entry into the home and held a resident captive, at gunpoint, for about 20 minutes, said Officer Robert Norvell in a press release issued late Wednesday night.

No injuries were reported, and the resident called police after the men, two of whom were armed with handguns, stole some items and fled the home.

The men are described as Hispanic adult males between 18 and 22 years old, police said. No further details about the men or what was stolen were available as of Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, a business on the north side of town was also robbed at gunpoint, police said.

No injuries were reported in that incident and no arrests have been made in either cases, according to Sgt. Aaron Slater.

Asked whether the two incidents are connected, Slater said, “It doesn’t appear so.”

Tuesday’s home invasion robbery comes a little more than a month after a man was arrested on suspicion of burglary forced their way into a home on the 5000 block on Chelsea Drive on June 2. The men fled when they discovered a resident was inside of the home.
