Police Release Surveillance Photos of Couple Wanted for Walmart Robbery

Police say the duo stalked a 70-year old woman and robbed her at Walmart.

Police are asking for help identifying two people suspected of robbing a 70-year-old woman in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Fremont, California on Friday night.

Law enforcement officials released freeze frames from surveillance video footage  today that captured what happened inside and outside of the store.

On the night of October 4, Fremont Police were dispatched to the Walmart, located in the 44000 block of Osgood Road.  In the parking lot, they found an injured elderly woman with her family who reported they were robbed.

The 70-year old woman was exiting the Walmart with her family when a man and a woman approached them from behind and grabbed her gold necklace.  The woman struggled. Then the man “slammed the 70-year-old woman to the ground,” according to police. Police say he dragged her until he took part of her gold chain.

His female accomplice left the scene and entered a vehicle that was used to drive them away from the scene of the crime. The elderly woman was taken to a local hospital to treat injuries which required surgery.

After reviewing surveillance footage of the incident, police are saying that the couple stalked the woman and her family.

“The male suspect at one point even made a motion with his arms as if he is shooting the victim as his target with a rifle while he followed her,” a Fremont Police spokesperson said. The couple was seen in the video following the woman and her family out of the store and into the parking lot.

They are described a male and a female of Hispanic ethnic heritage who are are in their late teens or early twenties. The man was described as between 5’7” and 5’10” tall with a medium to stocky build.  You can see him in the photos attached to these words.

The woman was said to have a small build and is between 5’2” and 5’6” tall.  She can also be seen in the photos.

Fremont Police are asking anyone with information about this incident or the people suspected of committing this crime to call Officer Darryl Manrique at 510-790-6900. He can also be reached at Dmanrique@fremont.gov.
