Police: Officers Crack Down on Prostitution Ring; Teen Attacked Outside of Burlington

Violence

Officers continue to search for the person or persons behind a at the intersection of Haley Street and Cedar Boulevard Jan. 20. Officers say someone shot a 19-year-old man in the knee while he was stopped at the intersection.

Officers were searching for two men who jumped a 16-year-old boy outside of the department store on Jan 23. According to the police activity log, the boy told officers he was walking to his parked vehicle at the time of the attack and the men stole his cell phone and $30 from his wallet. After he drove home and called police, paramedics transported the boy to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Robbery

Officers say at least five men tried to restaurant on Mowry Avenue on Jan. 23. The activity log shows one employee hit the robbery alarm when he saw a handgun in one man’s waistband.

Theft

Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a shoplifting incident at on Jan. 19.

According to the activity log, two arrests where made after officers saw two men carrying a car hood away from the Pick-n-Pull on Mowry Avenue Jan. 22.

Over the weekend, officers made a shoplifting arrest at on Jan 22., and two separate shoplifting arrests at andon Jan 23.

Other Incidents

Alameda County firefighters contained a on Jan. 17 that displaced a family of five and sent one woman to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation injuries.

Officers assisted Animal Control with two pitbulls running around the 36500 block of Deborah Street on Jan. 18. According to the activity log, officers arrested the 20-year-old dog owner who refused to control his animals and later became combative with authorities on scene. 

Officers say a juvenile boy was arrested on Newark Boulevard at Central Avenue on Jan. 19 for allegedly tagging signs on Hafner Street.

Newark police assisted the Hayward Police Department with the investigation of a on Jan 20. According to Newark police, officers recovered two women connected to the operation at Chase Suite Hotel on Cedar Boulevard.

Officers arrested four men and one juvenile male as part of a sweep for misdemeanor traffic warrants on Jan. 22.

The activity log shows paramedics transported a motorcycle rider to Kaiser Fremont after he collided with a semi-truck on Central Avenue on Jan. 22.

Alcohol and Drugs

Officers say a theft investigation at on Newark Boulevard led to the DUI arrest of a 54-year-old man on Jan. 18.
