Man Stabbed During Attempted Robbery

Police are searching for two men who are believed to be responsible for the stabbing of a 40-year-old Southern California man during an attempted robbery at the around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 12. Police described the pair as Hispanic male adults in their 20s with short cropped hair. One was said to be around 5-foot-6 and 130-140 pounds and the other was 5-foot-8 around 185 pounds. .

False Bomb Threat Evacuates Hotel

was evacuated around 4:51 a.m. on Oct. 10 after police received a call from the hotel clerk stating that a bomb threat was called into the hotel. The caller told the clerk that the bomb would explode in 20 minutes, police said, but the threat was found to be false. Alameda County firefighters and the American Medical Response personnel were staged in the area until about 40 minutes after the 9-1-1 call was made to the police department.

Pair of Teens Caught Burglarizing Home

Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of burglary at the 6100 block of Joaquin Murieta Ave. around 11:44 a.m. on Oct. 12. Police responded to the area after a homeowner called to report that someone was in the hallway while he was asleep in another room. The homeowner opened his bedroom door and saw a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male standing by the bedroom sliding door. The teenagers ran out and jumped down. The homeowner recognized the pair as associates of a neighboring condominium. No property was taken and the pair was arrested and were given notices to appear in court.

Pair Steals Copper From Vacant Building

A 47-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested on Oct. 11 after police found them taking copper from the rear of the Circuit City building at Mowry Crossing. Both are facing charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools and were booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Other Calls

A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a deadly weapon. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of embezzlement at 39800 Eureka Dr. on Oct. 14.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and Cedar Boulevard and Mowry Avenue on Oct. 13. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

Numerous reports of batteries and burglaries were called into the Newark Police Department this week.
